Flogas Energy expands with appointment of new General Manager

Leading gas supplier marks move into electricity market with creation of new role

Flogas Energy (the mains gas arm of leading supplier Flogas Britain) has appointed industry veteran Andy Beasley to the newly created role of General Manager, Utilities – as it announces plans to move into the commercial electricity market.

Launched in 2016 as part of the established Flogas Britain business, Flogas Energy specialises in providing reliable and competitively priced mains gas to commercial customers across Great Britain. Beasley joins Flogas as part of its continued mains gas growth strategy – but he will also be responsible for leading a planned expansion into electricity, as it seeks to ensure its service offering evolves to stay relevant and competitive for businesses nationwide.

Lee Gannon, Managing Director at Flogas Britain, explains: “For more than 30 years, Flogas has been well-known as a provider of off-grid fuels – including LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and LNG (liquefied natural gas). We launched Flogas Energy to extend this trusted service to commercial mains gas customers – both locally and nationally – and following its success the move into electricity feels like the natural next step for us.

With such a wealth of industry experience, Andy Beasley is just the right person to lead our expansion into electricity. Not only does he have his finger on the pulse of what is a fast-moving and competitive market, he also shares Flogas Britain’s customer-centric vision and ambition to become the nation’s go-to provider for energy services. As a supplier of both mains gas and power, the Flogas Energy part of the business will remain committed to offering the highest-quality product, matched with unbeatable service levels – and we’re very excited to welcome Andy to the team.

Beasley brings with him 28 years of sector experience, including director roles at Flow Energy, Microgen and Utilita. He is also an active and respected figure in the wider energy industry. Until very recently he served as a director on the board of trade association Energy UK, as well as chairing its Retail Committee and being part of its Strategy and Policy Committee.

Beasley comments: “I’m very proud to be joining Flogas Energy in such an important new role – at a company that’s very serious about expanding its mains energy portfolio. Flogas’ track record in the commercial and domestic off-grid markets is second-to-none, and I look forward to helping ensure its entry into the electricity market and further growth in mains gas are just as successful.

As an energy supplier, our first job is to keep people connected and our customers happy, but in 2018 and beyond it’s also vital that we evolve to provide a more rounded energy service. This includes striving to keep customers’ bills as low as possible whilst also reducing their carbon footprint, and it’s something I believe that we at Flogas Energy are well equipped to achieve.

Supporting Andy Beasley with mains gas activity and Flogas’ entry into the electricity market, is independent energy consultant Bob Foley. Foley has extensive experience in the energy industry, having worked at energy services providers such as British Gas, IM Serv, Brookfield Utilities and TXU Energy. Further hires are also planned (in functions covering both back and front office roles) as Beasley looks to upscale the Flogas Energy team to meet growing demand.
